Does the Library offer free tax preparation assistance?

Answer

Each year in February, March, and April, several Library branches host free tax preparation services in a partnership with AARP, Gateway EITC and Tax Assistance Program (TAP).

AARP Tax-Aide Sessions are available for taxpayers with low to moderate income (limit around $70,000) with special attention to those 60 and older. Sessions are offered at multiple branches and are available by appointment only.  You may call any branch to make an appointment after January 2nd.

Gateway EITC Tax-Aide Sessions are available for taxpayers with family income of less than $54,000. Sessions are available on a walk-in basis on at the Spencer Road Branch Saturdays in February, March and April. These are very popular, so arrive early. The branch opens at 9 am and the line for appointments forms at the main entrance double doors.

Tax Assistance Program (TAP) offers free tax preparation for people with household incomes of $62,000 or less. Call 314-896-4159 and leave a message, and a volunteer will return your call with appointment information.
